Smart RFID – a simple solution from GERA-IDENT to encode RFID labels for the retail logistics industry

The demands of the trade industry to label palettes is currently subject of many debates and discussions, but also partly reality. Generally, the palettes are equipped with RFID labels that contain an EPC SSCC96 code.

The palettes are generally fitted with a shipping label carrying an EAN128 code. Aside from this label, an RFID label is then either manually or automatically applied to the palettes. The EAN 128-code is then read, by means of a handheld device that is equipped with the smart RFID software. The code is then converted into an EPC SSCC96 code that is to be written to the memory chip on the RFID label.

This easy to operate labelling system, based on handheld devices for equipping shipping palettes with RFID labels, offers a low-cost solution that meets industry demands, particularly to smaller manufacturing companies. Operation of this system is simple, effective and contains few menu items, as is apparent on the screen shots below.
